Fall is here and with the season comes more fog. Cooler autumn nights can cause the air near the ground to chill, causing fog to form. Fog makes visibility more difficult outdoors and makes for dangerous driving conditions. While fog can form just about anywhere it is more likely to occur in low land areas around any water. Here are three quick safety tips to protect you and other drivers on the road in foggy conditions.
- Headlights – Turn on your headlights, low beams only as high can restrict vision in fog.
- Stay Alert – Eliminate anything that could cause a distraction. You never know what’s around the corner, a jogger, deer or stalled vehicle.
- Slow Down – Allow for extra space between you and other vehicles. Remember, you might be alert, but the driver ahead may have to brake quickly
